1950
- The Old Optimists’ appeared in their first pantomime penned and produced by Mrs Bliss Phillips, it was called Mother Rhubarb and her Rabbit. The Optimists’ pantomimes were to be presented for another 13 years.
1970
- After a few years break, Bliss took up the helm once more, with the WI and an all female cast.
1973
- Men re-joined the group, now called the Brockenhurst Panto People.
2000
- After 50 years of service in both writing and producing shows Bliss Phillips retired from the group and Rachel Pearson took up the role of producer. The Brockenhurst panto people then became the Brockenhurst Players as they are still known today.
2004 – 2008
- In 2004 Rachel handed the reins over to Richard Hardiman.
- During the development of the current Village hall, the group were instrumental in their fund raising activities, donating significant funds raised through the panto and other events.
2008
- Richard stepped down as producer for a year to undertake vocational studies.
- The group decided to take a year out as a result of no stage being available due to the development work at the Village Hall and rising costs.
2009
- The group return, re-energised, with Richard Hardiman as producer
- Our original producer Bliss Phillips sadly passes away.
